Caffeinated jobs: Guess who drinks the most coffee | Seattle's Big ...

Nearly half of U.S. workers (46 percent) say they?re less productive without coffee, and 61 percent drink two or more cups a day.

Only two cups! Amateurs.

That information comes to you courtesy of a survey by Dunkin? Donuts and CareerBuilder ? a match made in public-relations heaven if you?re looking to make a survey about coffee and working. The survey pinpointed jobs where coffee consumption is highest, and Seattleites might recognize a few from pretty prominent local industries.

I guess this is just further proof that Seattle really is one of the most-caffeinated cities in the country.

10. Financial Professional: No surprises here. Dealing with other people's money is almost as stressful as dealing with your own. (Or is it more stressful?) But with the failure of WaMu, Seattle's financial industry dwindled. (Getty Images)

9. Social Worker: High stress, low pay, a best buddy named Joe. As in cuppa. (Getty Images)

8. Professor: Dealing with freshmen requires a lot of coffee, apparently. Professors are some of the most-caffeinated professionals out there, and I'm betting that's still the case at Seattle's many colleges and universities. (Getty Images)

7. Food Preparer: I guess it makes sense for those who work in the kitchen to drink coffee -- that's where the coffee is, right? (Getty Images)

6. Physician: Next time you visit your doctor, check to see if he or she is extra-energized. Chances are, there was some coffee involved. (Getty Images)

5. Healthcare Administrator: Even more caffeinated than doctors, believe it or not. (Getty Images)

4. Editor/Writer: Type, type, type. Sip, sip, sip. Coffee is better than the drinking addictions some noted writers have had. Ernest Hemingway, I'm looking at you. (Getty Images)

3. Education Administrator: Oddly, education administrator made the top 10 -- but not teacher. (Getty Images)

2. Marketing/Public Relations Professional: You're always on, always dealing with a crisis. Always ... drinking coffee, apparently. (Getty Images)

1. Scientist/Lab Technician: Long hours, bright lights -- who wouldn't need coffee? Seattle's burgeoning biotech and research industry could singlehandedly be responsible for our high coffee-consumption rates. (Getty Images)

Surprisingly, the survey reported coffee dependency is strongest in the Northeast, where 49 percent of respondents admitted to needing their coffee fix while on the job.
