Extreme Water Sports: Wakeboarding and Water Ski | cherryjam.mobi

You can spend one day trying wakeboarding and water skiing even if you?re not a professional as long as you have tutors to guide you. Both sports need a tow boat, cables and a lot of balancing on your part. There are many resorts that offer lessons and instruction, but you dont need to invest too much time on learning. If you have a natural gift for either sport, you can even master the basics in just hours.

Water Skiing

Water ski is a sport that involves balancing on water on a pair of skis. The equipment needed is slightly different from the equipment you use to ski in snow. You will be skimming the surface of the water while balancing yourself using the cables attached to the tow boat.

Maybe youve seen people water skiing on one ski instead of a pair. This is a technique best left to the pros. Some water ski enthusiasts move on to win medals in competitions.

Wakeboarding

Wakeboarding is a fairly new sport compared to skiing, water skiing and surfing. It was accidentally discovered by several surfers who tried using modified surfboards instead of skis for water skiing. Wakeboarding quickly became mainstream with equipment designs made for the sport and its fans. The idea is to surf in the wake of a special tow boat.

The board for wakeboarding is rectangle shaped and smaller than a surfboard. The wake board resembles a skateboard in some way. The bottom is not flat but rounded in order to skim the surface of the water more effectively. Fins may also be attached under the board. Liquid Force Wakeboards is one good product that you should see.

Safety Equipment

A helmet and pads for the arms and legs are needed in both water sports. Hitting the water at top speed will hurt your body. Make sure your suit can also cover your arms and legs.

Another person, besides the driver should be in the boat while you?re wakeboarding or skiing. A spotter is an essential part of the team. The driver cannot keep looking back to check on the rider. A slower speed may be needed for beginners. The spotter can be the one who signals the rider if there is a problem and the boat needs to slow down.
