When you decide to buy a new car there are several things that you will need to think about first. There are the models that are available, of course. There are the prices to consider, the interest rates, the offers of 0% interest, buyer incentives and the amount of your payments if you lose your job.  It may seem overwhelming at fist, but the key to car buying negotiating and obtaining the best possible deal is to load your knowledge arsenal.

When do you know if you have negotiated a good deal for the car you want? This is not always easy to figure, so the first thing you will want to do is research car buying and negotiation tactics. You cannot allow your emotions to rule the decisions you will be making because once you lose that edge you are doomed to end up paying more than you wanted to pay.

Find out what the factory invoice is on the car you are interested in purchasing. The dealers are going to tell you more because they want to make money on the vehicle you purchase. There are going to be features they want to add and naturally, the price will increase with every one. When you lose the edge is when you start being swayed from what you came to purchase in the first place. Car salesmen work at their technique every day to make the maximum amount of sales and the commissions they can from the cars they sell.

And who can blame them because this is their profession. If you were selling cars you would do the same thing. But the trick is to learn how to negotiate to get what you want. Do not stray from the decision you have made and do not hesitate to say no if there is something you do not want. When you stand by what you have decided from the moment you go to the car dealer you will come out with what you want. (At least most of what you want) No added costs will cause your payment to be much more than what you were prepared to pay.

The best tip is to be prepared.  When you are armed with information you are better equipped to negotiate with salesmen. There are many people who end up getting home, looking over their buyer's agreement and cannot believe what they have done. This is not what they thought was being explained to them. But by that time, they have already signed the contract and it is too late.  You are pretty much stuck with what you have purchased.

Another great tip is to use the buddy system.  If you are going shopping, take a level headed friend with you who can give you one of their looks if they think you are getting out of hand and starting to go a little crazy. This is one way you can keep your head about you when faced with all the great looking cars and trucks. They all seem to be beckoning your name but getting in over your head is not what you need to do.

Finally, know what you can afford to pay.  Have a budget and stick with it. Include in this budget the price of maintenance including gas, car insurance, and repairs. There will be great cars in your budget.  You can always trade up for something a little more along the lines of what you want. in a few years.

Remember car salesmen are master negotiators.  Your only weapon is knowledge!  So load your arsenal with these car buying negotiating tips and you can come out with a great car and a really good deal.
