The Platinum Girl Celebrity Blog: 5 Ways Scarlett Johansson ...

Unfortunately, I never made time to write about the oh-so-obvious prediction involving the end of the relationship between Scarlett Johansson, 26, and Sean Penn, 50. My prediction did not stem from their age difference, but from the 5 ways Scarlett miserably failed to play hard-to-get with Sean.

Scarlett should've slowed the relationship down with Sean. Unfortunately for her--but fortunately for my readers--there are several great takeaways from her mistakes. Below is a timeline based on Us Weekly articles that prove my point:

March 11, 2011? Sean and Scarlett are all over each other during a 24-hour getaway in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico. After retiring to their suite, they emerge at 2:00 pm the next day for a liquor-loaded lunch.March 28, 2011? Sean and Scarlett go for a late night dinner at Jimmy's Bar in Ojai, California. Supposedly, Scarlett is terrified about all of the attention they receive, but she still proceeds to sit in Sean's lap and make out with him for 15 minutes in full view.April 13, 2011? Three months into dating, Scarlett moves into Sean's home in Malibu. Soon afterward, they become homebodies and start entertaining, eating in, and hanging out with Sean's kids. They really enjoy working out together. May 2, 2011 During the main course at a White House Correspondents Dinner in Washington, D.C., Scarlett and Sean are engrossed in what is reported as an "intense" makeout session in front of all attendees--President Barack Obama and other world leaders included. She also sits in Sean's lap for part of the meal.June 9, 2011? Sean breaks up with Scarlett because he isn't looking to be tied down since his divorce from Robin Wright. Inside sources say that she pursued him. Not ready to give up, she pushes herself into his conversations at Spike TV's Guys Choice Awards in L.A., and is happy to have photos taken of the two of them together. Sean says nothing.

And so it ends--not with a bang, but a whimper.

So, what are Scarlett's 5 big mistakes?

1. The Cabo trip never should have happened. The Rules says to see a man once a week on Saturday's during the first few months of dating. The dates should not last any longer than five or six hours. A 24-hour trip at the outset of a relationship with a man is too much, too soon. Scarlett should have been too busy for this getaway.

2. The PDA was too much. Scarlett let Sean--and the whole rest of the world--know exactly how crazy she was about him. Scarlett, being the young and hot actress that she is, probably could have snagged Sean had she kept him on his toes. All she had to do was make him wonder a bit about where he stood with her.

3. Moving in with Sean was Scarlett's biggest mistake. This is also the most important lesson for women to learn. I am willing to bet that Sean wanted her to move in and she readily did so. But, this is where The Rules advice is crucial: even if a man is pushing to see you more, you must slow it down. Men are funny. One minute they want you there every second. Then you give it to them and all of the sudden they...

4. Don't want anything serious. A woman practicing The Rules could have seen this fallout coming from a mile away. Women who don't know The Rules (or do but ignore them) frequently end up in these scenarios until they bottom out from pain. Scarlett was probably thrilled and happily going along for the ride, clueless that the rug was about to be swept out from underneath her. After all, he was letting her hang out with his children, entertaining in his home, etc. Essentially, they were acting like a married couple.?

5. When it was over, she didn't let it go. Never, ever chase after a man once he has left you! In my book, Text. Love. Power.: The Ultimate Girls Guide for Texting and Dating in the New Millennium, I tell women that the It Girl Factor cannot be restored once it is gone. After Sean broke up with Scarlett, she did not have a chance winning him back. And think about where she tried to do so -- at The Guy's Choice Awards -- where he was probably looking to forward to meeting other women.?

In my six years as a dating coach, for better or worse, The Rules has never been wrong. Women who read and practice this advice never experience the humiliation and heartbreak that Scarlett has with Sean. Where age can devastatingly come into play with an older man is that he dumps you instead of being beside himself whilst pursuing you. Scarlett will find someone new. But, let's hope she learns from her mistakes and ends up with a man who adores her. Then she will...
