A Live Pretty Bridal Shower ? Homage through flowers for the Bride ...

A Live Pretty Bridal Shower ? Homage through flowers for the Bride-to-be.

Bridal Shower Flowers ? Live Pretty Style

I always thought there was no better way to say ?I love you? or ?you are special today? than to pay homage to that person with flowers.? What better place to start than at the shower for that special bride? It?s our take on Bridal Shower Flowers. Flowers set that most important atmosphere for the party.

This shower needed to be simple but elegant for our bride and her friends and family.? We decided that antique tea pots and mixed flowers would be used.? Our bride requested no purple or red flowers; so we went to our local supplier, i.e. the grocery store, with that in mind.

We brought home enough bridal shower flowers for arrangements for various tables throughout the party area ? the main serving table, a coffee table, the drink counter, bathrooms, enclosed porch ? where ever our guests would congregate.

I have been blessed with lovely tea pots from my mother, mother-in-law, and aunt.? These pots are from England, Belgium; the yellow one is coated with 24 carat gold.? Small vases were used for the bathrooms.? And, as a special gift for the bride, three small vases were purchased from her registry and filled with flowers as a surprise.

I bought a variety of flowers ? roses, hydrangeas, daisies, spider mums, daisy mums, etc.? Tip: squeeze the buds of the roses.? If they are firm, they are fresh.? If they squish and are soft, leave them in the store. The greens were picked from my ?picking? garden in my back yard that I planted years ago for just this purpose.

I brought the flowers home and immediately began ?conditioning? them.? First the green leaves are mostly removed from the stems.? No leaves should be under the water in an arrangement because they tend to rot and contaminate the water.

Next, the stems are cut under water that has been treated with the fresh flower food provided by the store florist.? They are cut with a sharp clipper under water at least 2 inches from the end, making a fresh cut that can pull water into the stems.? Tip: If the stems are cut in the air, they suck up air forming an air lock.? If an air lock forms the flowers do not get water for nourishment.? I let the flowers soak up their new water for about 2 hours at least.

These particular flowers were stored in my second refrigerator overnight.? The morning of the shower, I assembled all the tea pots, greens, ribbon and flowers.? Again, as the length of each flower was determined, I cut the flower under water and then placed it in the tea pots that had already been filled with conditioned water. Tip: Water should always be the temperature that is easy for you to tolerate, not too cold or hot.? It?s like making a bath for a baby.

The greens were added as needed.? Flowers were mixed colors making old fashioned arrangements of multiple colors.

Tip: If you feel your roses might not open because the buds are very tight, place the bud near your mouth and blow hard into the bud.? It will loosen and open in time. When I was finished with the arrangements, the lids of each tea pot were tied with lovely ribbon onto the handle of the tea pot.

I have to encourage you ? don?t be afraid to try flower arranging.? Just start and it will all come together.? Just have the courage begin.? Lovely fresh flowers, it can only look beautiful, and they were.
