TORONTO (AP) ? Toronto FC ended its MLS record nine-game losing streak with a 1-0 win over the Philadelphia Union on a late goal by Danny Koevermans on Saturday.
Nick Soolsma outmuscled a Union defender in the box and fed the ball to Koevermans at the near post. The big Dutch striker's first attempt bounced off goalie Chris Konopka, but he scored on with his second try.
Koevermans came into the game in the 62nd minute, his third substitute appearances in four games since returning from a groin injury.
Toronto entered the game off a win against the Vancouver Whitecaps that game the club a fourth straight Voyageurs Cup as Canadian champion. Toronto has a three-week break due to the next round of World Cup qualifiers.
Philadelphia played without goalie Zac MacMath (concussion symptoms) and Chase Harrison (ankle sprain).
Toronto is 1-9-0; Philadelphia is 2-7-2.
Houston Dynamo 2, Los Angeles Galaxy 1
HOUSTON ? Andre Hainault's goal in the 57th minute gave the Houston Dynamo a victory over David Beckham and the Los Angeles Galaxy.
Hainault scored to break a 1-all game on a header off a corner kick by Brad Davis. He headed the ball from the near post to the inside far post.
The Galaxy took a 1-0 lead on a goal by Edson Buddle in the 10th minute. Houston tied it in the 38th minute on an own goal by LA's Mike Magee. A shot by Houston's Brian Ching went off the crossbar, then bounced off Magee in front of the goalmouth and into the net.
Beckman missed two good scoring chances. A 30-yard free kick in the 51st minute was knocked over the crossbar by goalie Tally Hall, and his 25-yard free kick in the 83rd minute also was knocked away by Hall.
Landon Donovan and Robbie Keane did not play for the Galaxy; Geoff Cameron missed the game for the Dynamo.
Columbus Crew 2, Chicago Fire 1
COLUMBUS, Ohio ? Eddie Gaven scored Columbus' first goal and assisted on the second by Emilio Renteria as the Crew defeated the Chicago Fire.
Gaven scored from 19 yards in the 9th minute with a low shot inside the left post for Columbus (5-4-3), which has won two straight and is 3-0-2 in its last five.
Gaven helped make it 2-0 in the 43rd by passing to a posting Renteria, who shirked defender Austin Berry and put the ball into the left corner of the net.
Berry got a measure of revenge when he headed in a service by Daniel Paladini in the 72nd minute for Chicago (5-4-3).
The Fire's Sean Johnson made saves on Renteria in the 80th and Nemanja Vukovic in the 81st minutes to keep the match close.
D.C. United 3, New England Revolution 2
WASHINGTON ? Substitute Maicon Santos scored the winning goal in the second half in Eastern Conference-leading D.C. United's winover the New England Revolution.
Dejan Jakovic and Brandon McDonald scored in the first half for United (8-4-3). The Washington club is unbeaten in its last eight home matches, winning its last five.
Saer Sene and A.J. Soares scored early in the second half for the Revolution (4-7-1).
Real Salt Lake 3, FC Dallas 2
SANDY, UTAH ? Alvaro Saborio scored a pair of goals in the second half and Nat Borchers came up with the game-winner in stoppage time to lift Real Salt Lake to a victory over FC Dallas.
The win helped Salt Lake extend its unbeaten streak to six games. FC Dallas is now winless in nine games and has not prevailed in Utah since 2007.
Injuries and absences for other reasons left both teams short-handed. A total of seven midfielders and defenders were scrubbed because of injuries for FC Dallas. An eighth player, Brek Shea, was also not available because of a suspension. RSL did not have goalkeeper Nick Rimando or team captain Kyle Beckerman because both were playing with the US National Team on Saturday.
Colorado Rapids 3, Montreal Impact 2
COMMERCE, Colo. ? Jamie Castrillon scored in the 83rd minute leading the Colorado Rapids to a win over the Montreal Impact.
Drew Moor and Jeff Larentowicz added first half goals for Colorado (6-6-1). Larentowicz's goal came on a penalty kick for the Rapids, who have won their last two games.
Reserve goalie Greg Sutton batted a shot by Scott Palguta, but the ball came back to Castrillon who put a header into the net.
Defender Tyrone Marshall received a red card ejection in the 59th minute.
Chivas USA 1, Seattle Sounders 1
CARSON, Calif. ? Juan Agudelo scored his first goal for Chivas USA in a draw with Seattle.
Agudelo was playing his second match for Chivas (4-6-3) since being dealt from the New York Red Bulls. He scored in the 57th minute on a cross from former Sounders defender James Riley.
David Estrada scored four minutes later on a cross from Alex Caskey to tie the game. It was Estrada's fifth goal of the season.
Seattle (7-3-3) haven't won in four games.
Vancouver White Caps 1, Portland Timbers 1
PORTLAND, Ore. ? Darren Mattocks' goal in the 84th minute drew the Vancouver Whitecaps to a draw with the Portland Timbers in a Cascadia Cup match that was delayed for some time when a severe thunderstorm rolled through downtown Portland.
Striker Kris Boyd scored in the 67th minute for the Timbers (3-5-4), who were coming off a 2-1 victory over the Chicago Fire last Sunday that pulled them out of last place in the Western Conference.
The Whitecaps (5-3-4) remained a victory away from matching their win total from all of last season when they finished last in the West.
