Panetta: no Iran attack plans to be discussed with Israel

CAIRO (Reuters) - U.S. Secretary of Defense Leon Panetta denied media reports on Tuesday that he would discuss possible military attack plans against Iran during a brief visit to Israel.

Speaking at a press conference in Cairo shortly before departing for Israel, Panetta said he would be talking about "various contingencies", but said specific military plans would not be put forward.

"I think it's the wrong characterization to say we are going to be discussing potential attack plans. What we are discussing are various contingencies and how we would respond," he said.

Asked whether these included military options, he said: "We obviously continue to work on a number of options in that area, but the discussions that I hope to have with Israel are going to be more about what is the threat that we're confronting and to try to share both information and intelligence on that."

Western powers believe Iran is seeking the technology to build a nuclear bomb and Israel has repeatedly hinted it might use force to try to halt its arch foe's atomic program. Tehran says its nuclear work is for peaceful purposes.

The United States has said it is determined to prevent Iran from getting the bomb, but has called on Israel to give more time for increasingly severe economic sanctions to work.

"Both of our countries are committed to ensuring that Iran does not develop a nuclear weapon and to that extent we continue to work together in the effort to ensure that Iran does not reach that point of developing a nuclear weapon," Panetta said.

Top selling Israeli daily Yedioth Ahronoth said on Tuesday that Panetta intended to show Israeli leaders the plans being drawn up by the Pentagon to stop Iran if diplomacy and sanctions failed to persuade Tehran to halt its nuclear program.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said he had not yet decided whether to attack Iran's nuclear facilities, dismissing repeated media reports that the military objected to such an operation against far-flung, fortified Iranian sites.

"In Israeli democracy, as in any democracy, the political echelon is the one that decides and the professional echelon (the military) executes. I have not yet made a decision," he told Israel's Channel Two news on Tuesday evening.

He added that the debate in the media about a possible offensive was "harmful" and "not serious".

The Israeli army chief, Benny Gantz, told reporters in Tel Aviv earlier in the day that the Israeli Defence Forces (IDF) were ready to attack Iran if ordered to.

"The IDF is ready and prepared for action and as we see it 'all options are on the table' is not a slogan, it is a working plan and we are doing it," he said, referring to a line often repeated by Israeli politicians when discussing Iran.

Panetta is due to meet his Israeli counterpart, Ehud Barak, and Netanyahu during his stay in Israel, part of a broader trip to the Middle East and Africa.

A senior Israeli official on Sunday denied a separate newspaper report that President Barack Obama's national security adviser had briefed Netanyahu on a U.S. contingency plan to attack Iran should diplomacy fail to curb its nuclear ambitions.

A nude massage may be enjoyed as a regular massage where the masseuse intends to make the body and its joints and muscles relax in combination with having the body slide into a fully relaxed state. When a nude massage is performed by an intimate partner it may result in a sexual encounter. But it is intended to be a form of body and genital message with warmed oil being rubbed over the entire body and all of its parts. When this type of massage is totally effective the partner being massaged may simply fall asleep at the completion because they are so totally relaxed. So it would work out best if the two intimate partners took turns performing this at different times so neither is disappointed with the results. Giving a nude massage may be as stimulating as receiving one.

It is much the same as if the masseuse intended to bring the partner to a full sexual erection. It may also be used if a partner is experiencing any kind of impotence. This may be therapeutic form of massage that partner.

A masseuse may be a male or the massage business may only hire females or you may have your choice of either a male or female masseuse. Which one you choose if you have a choice is entirely up to you. When you made an appointment you should let the receptionist know what your preference is for a masseuse. In many cases you will also have your choice of masseuse. For example you may prefer a blond or a brunette or perhaps a redhead. If they offer this type of choice they will often post pictures that you can choose from on their websites. In this way you can also choose bust size, bum shape and long legged or a shorter person. They will often have great full body shots so there will be no surprises when you encounter your masseuse.

For an actual relaxing massage the masseuse massages the muscles and connective tissues with the fingers and the palms of the hand. They may also employ the forearms when they are working on your back. If your massage takes place on a massage mat the masseuse may walk on your back or kneel on your back to give you the massage. When the masseuse massages your body they will massage the tendons and ligaments, the joints and the major muscle groups and also will massage the miner muscle groups. A nude massage may entail all parts of the body being massaged and include sexual gratification.

Gratification all depends on your own preferences and how you personally choose to engage or participate in the massage it may be with sounds or without sound as it is all your choice. Especially as to how many of the seven senses you want to be affected by the massage. Sounds certain can be erotic as can be certain warm mbt karani oils. Clothing on the masseuse can make a change and set the tone of the massage.

Getting married is identical to entering into a contract ? but its probably the one contract that is the easiest to fail because divorce has made it comfortable for married man and married woman to walk out when they go through an unpleasant time period in their lifetime, albeit irregular.

Just imagine, lawyers will struggle tooth and nail to guard corporations in their contract relations or between you and your landlord, your mechanic and your physician, but cant prevent you from divorcing your spouse. In fact, they would even direct you to split up your marriage and then talk about segmentation of property as the next reasonable step.

Some lawyers, and those who care to take it, agree: a simplified break up, like painless dentistry, is non-existent. And the hurt legal or emotional continues to be experienced long after breaking up couples have left the courts.

No married couple is exact. Utilizing a large sample for research purposes, researchers learned that 86 percentage of individuals who were unhappily married in the late 1980s, but stuck with the marriage, pointed that, when questioned five years afterwards, they were happier.

In fact 3/5 of those who were previously suffering viewed their marriages as either "very well" or "quite good."

First of all, to fix marriage you have to look at the fundamental issues. What is it that is doing troubles? Several of these troubles can be communicating, money, and the stress of growing the kids. If you say that you desire to save marriage, for the beginning you must discover the main issues.

First successful firing of a 3D-printed gun

Jacob Aron, technology reporter

rexfeatures_656145a.jpg

The real thing (Image: Andy Lauwers/Rex Features)

3D printers offer the promise of a world in which anyone can manufacture anything but, as with all technology, there are upsides and downsides. Last week we learned that handcuffs could be unlocked with a 3D printed key; now "HaveBlue", a member of the AR15.com gun enthusiast forum, which is named after a common semi-automatic rifle, claims to have carried out the first successful test-firing of a 3D-printed gun.

HaveBlue did not print an entire gun but only a part called the lower receiver, which serves as a frame for the other components of the gun. This component is the only gun part regulated for sale under US law and as such must carry a serial number - unless it's made by a private individual for their personal use, so HaveBlue is not breaking any laws.

Making gun parts used to be impossible for most people, of course, but computer files for AR-15 components have been available online for some time. HaveBlue claims to have combined a 3D-printed receiver made from hard plastic with parts from an ordinary pistol and successfully fired more than 200 rounds. "To the best of my knowledge, this is the world's first 3D printed firearm to actually be tested, but I have a hard time believing that it really is the first," HaveBlue said.

HaveBlue also attempted to build a working rifle using the printed receiver, but encountered difficulties when passing ammunition through it. These issues remained after swapping out the printed receiver for an aluminium version, though, suggesting the problem lies with a non-3D printed part of the gun.

Fairhope votes down moratorium on tattoo parlors, adult entertainment

FAIRHOPE, Alabama ? The City Council tonight laid to rest a moratorium on tattoo parlors and adult entertainment establishments, but said the controversy surrounding a tattoo studio downtown showed the need for more regulation.

Kevin Black, who set off the debate by seeking a business license for an electric arts boutique on Magnolia Avenue, has received the license following a favorable ruling from the Board of Adjustment last week.

The council voted down the proposed six-month moratorium on a vote of 3-1 with one abstention. Lonnie Mixon, Mike Ford and Rick Kingrea voted against it. Debbie Quinn voted in favor of it, while Dan Stankoski abstained, saying after the meeting that his son had represented Black.

But council members and City Administrator Gregg Mims agreed that the issue of what types of businesses should be allowed downtown needed to be clarified in planning and zoning regulations, particularly in the case of adult entertainment businesses.

Police Called to Jackson Family Compound in Response to Battery Claim

Katherine Jackson may have been found, but controversy and confusion continues to reign when it comes to the Jackson family these days.

TMZ sources confirm that L.A. County Sheriff's Deputies were called to the Jackson compound in Calabasas today after family members reported some kind of disturbance.

A battery report was filed, but it's unclear at the moment who was involved. No arrests were made.

Jackson Family and Bieber

Sheriff deputies have reportedly been keeping an eye on the family since April because a business associate of the family claims Katherine Jackson is being mistreated by certain relatives. This dispute allegedly was connected to that assertion.

Meanwhile, tension has mounted between family members because Michael Jackson's will left all of his money and assets to his three children and the Michael Jackson Trust. No siblings were listed on the document.

When Katherine Jackson was first reported missing, many believed it was somehow related to this feud - and many are still confused about why she had no contact with her grandchildren for a week.

It's all a very confusing situation, which, sadly, is commonplace at this point for the Jacksons.

Weekly Market Wrap and 10 PACE Stocks Yielding 4 ... - Jay Peroni

Weekly Wrap Up July 20, 2012

Europe finally took a backseat this week, as investors keyed in on Ben Bernanke?s testimony before Congress. The Fed chief didn?t offer any new insight about the economy or QE3, but company earnings reports gave investors more info to chew on.? Second quarter earnings season is now in session. We?ve been seeing flags of caution from many of the blue chip bellwether stocks.

All eyes on Bernanke

Fed chief Ben Bernanke continued to be frustrated by the lack of economic progress, especially with unemployment. He sees further job weakness going forward as the U.S. recovery has been hampered by:

  • Tight credit conditions
  • Uncertainty with the fiscal cliff of 2013 looming
  • The European markets and economy remain under significant stress and could unravel at any moment
  • Business spending ?appears to have decelerated? and surveys ?suggest further weakness ahead.?

Bernanke expects the economy to ?pick up very gradually? and the Fed?s is prepared to take action.? However, no hints were left that the Fed might be ready to pull the trigger on QE3 at the end of the month.

  • Bernanke expressed deep concern about the economy, reviving talk the Fed would eventually embark on new stimulus.
  • I believe Bernanke is waiting for a catastrophic event such as a full-blown European crisis before embarking on another round of easing.? Especially when they have been able to keep the stock market propped up simply by speaking to the public.

Earnings Beat the Street but Revenues Disappoint

As of July 19th, 66% of companies that have reported earnings have topped Wall Street expectations, but only 42% have beat revenue goals.? Economic challenges and stronger dollar have played a key role. Companies have been able to ?cost-cut? their way to better earnings, but this will not produce higher revenues.

Consumers Still ?Not Buying? this Recovery

Waning consumer confidence, weak employment growth, and slow income growth are all impacting the nation?s retailers as retail sales fell for the third straight month.? Sales were off 0.5% in June and this marked the first time since 2008 where we have seen sales fall for three consecutive months. This will probably force economists to ratchet down their Q2 GDP forecasts.? Remember, consumer spending makes up 70% of GDP!

More Gloom?

The closely watched Philly Fed Business Activity Index held below zero for the third straight month, rising to -12.9 in July from -16.6 in June.

Also, weekly jobless claims jumped 34,000 in the latest week to 386,000.

Housing Mixed!

Housing starts ?were up 6.9% in June, including a 4.7% rise in single-family starts. But existing-home sales slipped a worse-than-forecast 5.4% in June.

Lower Oil Prices Helped Improve the Inflation Picture (For Now)

CPI held steady at a year-over-year rate of 1.7% for June. The core rate of inflation, which pulls out food and energy, dropped slightly to 2.2%. With the economy slowing, inflation (other than food and energy) has not been much of a problem.? However, oil is quite volatile and prices are rising again amid Mideast tensions. Oil had slipped as low as $77.72 per barrel back on June 28. But is now back above $90 a barrel. Since oil bottomed, the S&P Energy sector is the winner, up 6.5%. As far as food prices go, the drought and surging corn prices could soon show up in higher grocery bills.

Busy Week Next Week

Earnings are off to a fairly good start, but will the trend continue? We have a whole slew of reports this week including:

  • Monday: Halliburton (NYSE: HAL), Eaton (NYSE: ETN), McDonalds (NYSE: MCD), and Texas Instruments (NYSE:TXN)
  • Tuesday: Illinois Tool (NYSE: ITW), AT&T (NYSE: T), EMC (NYSE: EMC), UPS (NYSE: UPS), and Apple (NASDAQ: AAPL).
  • Wednesday: Caterpillar (NYSE: CAT) and Ford (NYSE:F)
  • Thursday: 3M (NYSE: MMM), Dow Chemical (NYSE: DOW), Exxon Mobil (NYSE: XOM), Facebook (NYSE: FB).
  • Friday: Chevron (CHV)

The ones I will be watching closely include:

  • Caterpillar? The construction maker typically offers plenty of economic commentary, both in the U.S. and around the globe.
  • Eaton (NYSE: ETN) and Illinois Tool (NYSE: ITW): I want to see how a rising dollar is affecting some of the manufacturers? earnings.
  • Apple (NASDAQ: AAPL): How will earnings look?? This company has been pretty immune from the economic downturn.? Can the trend continue?
  • Facebook (NYSE: FB): Will investors finally catch a break?? Will Facebook provide some good news to make up for the disappointing stock performance?

(AP Photo/Barry Gutierrez)

AURORA, Colo. (AP) ? For the six friends, the movie was to be the kickoff to a day of celebration. Megan Saunders was turning 20, and her best buds were home from college for the summer. She had one particular birthday wish: that they all hit the midnight premiere of the new Batman flick, "The Dark Knight Rises."

Inside theater No. 9 of the Century 16 complex in Aurora, the atmosphere couldn't have been more festive. Little boys had donned their Batman masks while others were clad in full-on Caped Crusader costume. A woman near the front was dressed as Catwoman. When the lights dimmed at 12:05 a.m., a cheer went up as the previews began, followed by an even bigger shout when Bruce Wayne appeared on the big screen.

Megan and her friends sat side-by-side in the fourth row from the front, engrossed in a movie they'd long anticipated, about a superhero facing down evil.

Then an emergency exit door burst open, and suddenly evil was no longer the stuff of comic books and summer blockbusters.

The man stood only feet from them, clad in black, wearing goggles and a gas mask, holding a hissing canister in one hand, a gun in the other. For an instant Megan thought maybe he was a SWAT team member. Next to her, 19-year-olds Emma Goos and Hannah Judson thought it was all just part of the show, some extra theatrics to help set the mood.

It would take only seconds for these childhood friends to realize the horror that was about to unfold.

The man in black lobbed the canister into the crowd. As smoke spewed into the darkness, he fired one shot at the ceiling. Then, he started up the aisle.

Megan and her friends hit the floor as people all around them began screaming. "Get down!" ''There's a gun!" ''Get out!"

In the dark, crouched in front of her seat, her boyfriend trying to shield her, Megan heard the boom of the gun. Again and again and again. She stole one quick look at the audience, and saw people falling over their seats. A thought slowly began to creep into her mind: "I don't want my friends to die on my birthday."

___

Aurora lies just 10 miles east of downtown Denver, a diverse city of more than 300,000 known for world-class medical centers and its residents' affinity for sports and the outdoors. Like any big city, it has its share of crime but had, as recently as 2011, been ranked by Forbes Magazine as the ninth-safest city in America.

Megan Saunders, Emma Goos and Hannah Judson knew it only as home.

They grew up together, Megan and Emma only three doors apart in a neighborhood just down the street from the shopping mall that houses the Century 16 movie complex. At night, from Emma's front yard, you could see the red, purple and green neon lights of the theater glowing at night.

Movies were their thing. The group would often go to midnight premieres, even after they graduated high school and went their separate ways to college ? Megan to study hospitality; Emma, philosophy, math and literature; and Hannah, an aspiring music teacher, the romance language of Italian.

Together again in Aurora for summer break, it was a given that the Batman premiere would be on their must-see list. Megan was a big fan, and the premiere just happened to coincide with her birthday. So the plan was hatched: Catch the midnight show, then grab some sleep and breakfast before continuing the birthday party with a day of ice-block "sledding" in the park.

Around 11:30 p.m., six of them headed to the theater: The three girls along with friends Omar Esparza, Terrell Wallin and Megan's boyfriend of 2? years, Isaiah Bow. Emma sneaked in the candy bars. Hannah got her usual concession stand favorite, a double scoop of mint chip and fudge ice-cream, and they entered an already packed theater, seeing other friends amid the crowd. With most of the seats up top filled, the group headed toward the front and found six seats together on the righthand side of the theater, four rows from the exit door.

"It was a completely conventional night," Emma would later recall, "up until 15 minutes into the show."

On the screen, the Catwoman character played by actress Anne Hathaway had just been introduced. She had stolen some pearls.

In the theater, alleged gunman James Eagan Holmes had just kicked open the exit door. He was making his way up the aisle, shooting person after person.

___

Two rows in front of Megan and her friends, 22-year-old Jennifer Seeger, studying to become a firefighter-paramedic, felt bullet cases falling on her head, burning her skin. Behind her people moaned and pleaded, "Please don't shoot me."

In the upper section of the theater, 41-year-old Marcus Weaver, a father of two, heard children crying for their mothers and parents frantically crying, "Where are you at?" All the while the gunshots kept coming. "It was just, 'POW. POW,'" said Weaver. "All you saw was the light (of the gunflash) between the smoke. Then 'POW. POW.'"

From the ground in row 4, Megan and Emma heard a round of 20 to 25 shots. Then, for an instant ? maybe 15 seconds ? the firing stopped and an eery silence fell over the theater.

They figured the gunman was reloading. This might be their chance.

Emma stood up to run but slipped on butter that had spilled from a popcorn bucket. Still, she knew, "If I paused for one second, he would see me and shoot me." She scrambled back up and, with her head tucked down, made for the theater lobby. When she finally looked back, her friends were nowhere to be found.

Megan's boyfriend, Isaiah, had already jumped over the seats and made his escape through the emergency exit door, figuring Megan and their friends were close behind. But before Megan could get out, she saw the gunman turn to look at Isaiah. She hit the floor once more, as the shooting began all over again.

She knew she had no choice. It was either run and risk being seen, or stay and risk being slaughtered. Screaming at the strangers beside her to "Go! Go!" Megan made for the very same door the suspect had first entered, praying Isaiah would be on the other side waiting for her. Instead, he had disappeared.

They had gone to the movies ? all of them, as we all do ? for a night of escape. To forget, for just a moment, the troubles of life. Instead, in the chaos that followed, Emma and Megan, and so many others, saw things and did things that they may never forget.

Alone in the parking lot in front of the theater, Emma came across a man begging for help. His face was covered in blood. He kept asking her: "Is there a hole in my head?" She saw tissue protruding from the skin above his eye, but told him as calmly as she could manage: "You're OK. It's OK." She urged him to take off his shirt and apply pressure to the wound. Then she got on her cell phone and called her mother and stepfather.

Megan's boyfriend, Isaiah, had run back into the building in a desperate search for his girlfriend. But he was disoriented and wound up in the wrong screening room. So he shouted to the movie-goers there to get out.

As Megan made her way back to the front of the theater, casualties covered in blood stumbled out of the building. Police were starting to arrive, turning the parking lot into a makeshift triage center. Soon ambulances and gurneys piled with bodies were everywhere. Bloodied T-shirts that became makeshift tourniquets littered the ground.

Somehow, in the midst of it all, Megan found Emma. Then, from a distance, she spotted Isaiah shouting into the crowd. She ran until she could jump into his arms. Her friend Terrell had stayed close behind her. The four of them were together again, and soon they found Emma's parents, who had rushed to the scene.

But where was Omar? Where was Hannah?

Emma couldn't help but think that her friends were likely dead. What were the chances of all of them making it out of there alive? Then her stepfather's cell phone rang.

Hannah and Omar had managed to escape through the lobby and ran, barefoot, all the way back to Emma's house.

"They're OK," her stepfather told the group. All they could do was scream, this time not in terror but relief.

___

The comparisons came quickly between the massacre in Aurora and one 13 years ago a mere 18 miles away ? at Columbine High School in Littleton, Colo. When her daughter first called, Emma's mother, Judy Goos, immediately thought, "This is another Dylan Klebold. Someone who's angry at the world," said Goos, referring to one of the two students who killed 12 classmates and a teacher and wounded 26 others before killing themselves in what had been the deadliest shooting in Colorado history.

In Friday morning's rampage in Aurora, 12 people died and 58 others were injured. The suspect, 24-year-old Holmes, was arrested outside the theater and is scheduled to appear in court on Monday.

For so many here and across the nation, these types of tragedies have become all too common now, the images of victims covered in blood too horribly familiar. They have been far too frequent these past years, events so horrific they are recalled with only a word or two: Columbine. Virginia Tech. Fort Hood. Tucson. And, now, Aurora.

There will be, as there always are, questions about society's role, about our gun laws, about how it all might have been prevented ? and if, or when, it could happen again.

Said Aurora resident Mark Rosenberg, who stood outside of the theater Friday afternoon with his son, Nathan: "It's an unstable world. You never know what's going to happen next." His 13-year-old had gone to the midnight Batman movie at another theater, and said: "It's sad that we can't go into the theaters and feel safe."

Megan and Emma and Hannah and their friends, for now, take a somewhat different view.

They saw the worst of mankind in that theater Friday morning. But they also saw the best of it: People giving strangers CPR. Moviegoers, even some who had been wounded, refusing to flee the theater without helping their neighbors out, too.

They saw horror, but also heroes.

"There are bad apples in every batch," said Hannah. "But for the most part, I've seen nothing but support. People just trying to help people. There were people that were running and then strangers came and picked them up and took them in their car. There was so much unity in our community that I can't think that the bad is so prevalent in our world. I just can't because of one incident. And if it is ... then it's a scary place to live in."

As Emma said later: "You have to see good when you're this lucky. Six people? What are the chances of us being this close (to dying) and being OK?"

When night finally fell, the six friends found themselves at Megan's house, ending the day the way it had begun. Together.

As some peeled off and went home, Hannah and Isaiah stayed behind to do what they'd always intended: commemorate Megan's birthday. They ate muffins instead of cake and she opened one of her gifts: a movie, "Muppet Treasure Island." They sat together, watching cartoons and celebrating, in their own quiet way, life.

(AP) ? Once again donning the mantle of consoler-in-chief, President Barack Obama will travel Sunday to Colorado to comfort distraught families of those gunned down in a minute and a half of real-life horror at a midnight movie showing.

While authorities gather evidence on the suspect and the nation tries to fathom what drove the gunman, Obama will meet with loved ones struggling with pain and grief.

"We need to embrace them and let them know we will be there for them as a nation," Obama said Saturday in his weekly radio and Internet address.

The president planned just a brief visit to Colorado ? a bit under 2 ? hours ? during which he was also scheduled to meet with local officials in Aurora, where the shots rang out at a multiplex theater early Friday. Twelve of the victims died, 58 were injured.

After the Colorado stop, Obama is flying to San Francisco, where on Monday he'll begin a previously scheduled three-day campaign trip that includes a speech to the Veterans of Foreign Wars in Reno, Nev., multiple fundraisers in California, Oregon and Washington state and a speech to the National Urban League convention in New Orleans.

The shock of Friday's rampage brought the sprawling and sometimes vitriolic presidential campaign to a virtual standstill.

Obama cut short a political trip to Florida to return to Washington. Mitt Romney canceled interviews. Both campaigns pulled ads off the air in Colorado out of respect for the victims.

But with election activities set to resume in the new week, Vice President Joe Biden is speaking to the National Association of Police Organizations in Palm Beach County, Fla., on Monday, and Romney is to address the VFW on Tuesday.

For Obama, the unhappy task of articulating sorrow and loss has become a familiar one.

Indeed, for modern presidents, it's become an accepted facet of the office ? and for some, an opportunity for soaring words that rise above the partisan trench warfare of day-to-day governing.

Not 10 months in office, Obama led mourners at a service for victims of the November 2009 Fort Hood shooting, bowing his head before shrines of framed photos and boots belonging to the soldiers among the 13 who perished.

In January of last year, he spoke at a memorial for the six victims killed in Tucson, Ariz., when a gunman attacked Rep. Gabrielle Giffords as she met with constituents.

The following April, when some 300 people were killed in a multi-state outbreak of tornadoes, Obama flew to Tuscaloosa, Ala., to commiserate with residents whose homes were in ruins. A month later, Obama went to Joplin, Mo., after a monster twister claimed 161 lives. This year, he came back on the storm's anniversary to give a commencement speech at Joplin High School.

In between these public observances have been countless private meetings with families of troops who fell in battle in Iraq and Afghanistan.

For Obama, the Colorado visit was to be his second in just over three weeks. Last month, he flew to Colorado Springs to share the pain of homeowners whose houses had been turned to charred heaps by a record outbreak of wildfires.

Obama had already been a frequent Colorado visitor ? no surprise given the state's key role in his re-election bid. He won the state by more than 8 percentage points over John McCain four years ago. But neither Obama's nor Romney's camp expects that big a margin this time. Recent polls place Obama's lead inside the margin of error.

But for one more day, at least, electoral considerations remained on the back burner.

"This weekend I hope everyone takes some time for prayer and reflection," Obama said in his Saturday broadcast, "for the victims of this terrible tragedy, for the people who knew them and loved them, for those who are still struggling to recover."
